Before I was appointed as a Civil Celebrant I wanted my first Ceremony to be very special. Little did I know that first Ceremony would be my mother's funeral after her sudden death. The women in our family had all followed in Mum's nursing footsteps, and, working with the aged we were all familiar with having to farewell our patients. Dignity and respect were always paramount throughout those times. In hindsight I'm glad we'd all discussed funerals together, so when the time came we knew what Mum had wanted. It is a difficult time saying goodbye to a loved one. Often the shock of the loss can feel overwhelming. Details need to be worked out often with only a few days' notice. Shakespeare once wrote, "Tears water our growth." It's okay to cry, and it's okay to not cry too. Grief is individual and comes in many forms. To honour your loved one's life with their personality in mind is an important aspect of the funeral, so too a sensitivity to their culture and background. I am happy to talk with you in person or over the phone 02 60596774 to help create a sincere and dignified tribute. FAQs Where are Civil Funerals held?Civil Funerals are generally appropriate for a Crematorium. A Memorial Services can be held at almost any venue. However, these days some people are opting to hold the funeral service for their loved one at home. Do I have to have a Minister of religion conducting the funeral? No, not at all. In fact, you do not even need a qualified Civil Celebrant. However, it often helps to have someone experienced who is not emotionally attached to the family to perform the funeral. Is there a specific format I need to follow? You are free to choose whatever format you like. You may like to include your loved one's favourite music, readings and perhaps a small written tribute with photos for family and friends.

of meeting me is another matter."
